Universität Konstanz

The University of Konstanz is a campus university with short distances to cover. Flat hierarchies and structures within the university promote flexibility and interdisciplinary cooperation within the thirteen departments and the administration. The departments are distributed in three faculties: the Faculty of Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Politics – Law – Economics. Close dialogue and effective communication drive the living culture of creativity on all levels.

The advantages of the university, as formulated in the foundation report, include:

  •  diversity, communication and integration
  •  the promotion of young researchers and
  •  flexible and adaptable structures as the basis for international top-level research

Research at the university strengthens its profile through cooperation and collaboration across subjects, departments and faculties. Here too, the flat hierarchies and faculty structures promote the close interdisciplinary cooperation. Another unique feature is the performance-based allocation of resources through the Committee on Research (AFF) along with a comparatively modest basic funding for professorships.

The University of Konstanz combines top-level research and teaching and introduces students to research early on in their studies. Studying at the university allows for both knowledge transfer and personal development.
